Camp Rory

Camp Rory is set in the wilderness just 10 km outside of Rossland, BC towards the US border.

About the Camp
Camp Rory is a wilderness camp with lots of room for exploring and there are many hiking trails in and around the camp.

Founded in 1938 when 90 hectares of land was sold for $500 to trustees to the Girl Guides of Canada. It was then that Mr. R.F. (Rory) MacLennan built the original pool, cabins, and a lodge, which has since been torn down but the old chimney remains in tack and is a wonderful historical memory for all.

For 80 years Camp Rory has been a favourite for Girl Guide groups from the Kootenay and Boundary areas, and beyond, to stay in the picturesque cabins and tent sites.

Camp Rory offers a Cabin side and a Tent which are surrounded by trees providing privacy to each side.

Cabin Side Amenities:
♦ Five colourful cabins with four bunk beds each sleeping 8 (sleeping mats are required)
♦ Leaders cabin with power and 4 bunk beds (sleeping mats required)
♦ Lighted pathways
♦ wash house with 5 toilets, shower, sinks and hooks to hold toiletries
♦ Large campfire circle
♦ Stocked wood shack
♦ Flag pole
♦ Large grassy field
♦ Main hall offers large kitchen/dining room equipped with cooking and dining equipment.  There are two fridges, two stoves, microwave, sinks for both the kitchen and dining room side and a large craft corner area.  Also available is the Brownie Toadstool, memory books, craft supplies and games.

Tent Side Amenities:
♦ Six gravel tent pads with picnic tables
♦ Grey water pits
♦ Water is available at numerous water taps
♦ Open pavilion with picnic tables
♦ Power is available upon request
♦ Campfire circle
♦ Stocked wood shack
♦ Large grassy field
♦ Two-seat outhouse

Other Amenities:
♦ Hiking trails
♦ Snowshoeing (power remains on during the winter and campers can sleep in the cookhouse)
♦ Fairy trail lined with unique crafts left by campers
♦ Archery equipment is available for a fee
